Windber Medical Center is a medical center of choice, advancing well-being by combining healthcare services in the Planetree® tradition with state-of-the-art technology to help patients achieve and maintain wellness. In the Planetree® tradition, the environment itself is "healing" in nature, soothing to the senses, and envelops our patients in holistic nurturing that is so vital to caring for the entire person: body, mind, and spirit.
In support of this mission, The Windber Medical Health Care Foundation plays a vital role in the Medical Center's day-to-day existence and future developments---building financial support to acquire necessary state-of-the-art equipment and sustain our position as a center of excellence and innovation in healthcare. Our Foundations, which are 501(c)(3) charitable organizations, were created to solicit, record and recognize charitable gifts, grants and bequests to help fund programs and projects of the Windber Medical Center. Windber Hospice and Windber Research Institute to advance the well-being and medical care in our community and globally.
The foundation has enlisted the expertise of a separate volunteer board of directors responsible for securing financial funding, and is staffed by Foundation personnel based in the Medical Center complex. Financial contributions to the Foundations will be retained locally and will be used to benefit the healthcare related programs in our community.
